The Roaring 20s
Suggested by Kristi
The 1920s started on a bright note and ended on a dark one. The United States was growing in terms of their economy, as soldiers returned home from World War I. These soldiers had disposable income on hand and spent it on some of the new inventions at the time, which also helped the economy. The automobile quickly grew in popularity and when the assembly line was perfected, it made the car easier than ever to afford. Americans also enjoyed the early days of television and the chance to visit the movie theater, which was affordable for many.

An Overview of the 1920's
The 1920's has a lot more than just gangsters and Prohibition going on so here is some food for thought that I would use when thinking about concepts for characters in the game.
Although organized crime enjoys a lot of power at this time...social conditions have also changed since the 1890's and the nation is on the cusp of the modern 20th century.

Christy's fashion pages
The 1920s in America were times of great change. Coming out of the horror of the First World War, society exploded in a million different directions. The Twenties saw women voting, the Harlem Rennaisance, prohibition, and an incredible burst of affluence for the middle class. Automobiles and electric appliances made people's lives easier and gave them more leisure time.
The incredible, rapid social changes that struck the country are clearly illustrated by women's fashions of the decade.

Art Nouveau, Art Déco
Art Deco belongs to a world of luxury and decadence, the golden age of the 1920s and 1930s. The very term conjures up a multitude of romantic images; huge ocean liners gliding effortlessly across moonlit seas; the sound of clinking cocktail glasses and the sound of a raucous jazz band emanating from a sumptuously decorated ballroom.

Erte
This Russian artist was born Romain de Tirtoff and liked to call himself Erté after the French pronunciation of his initials. He was one of the foremost fashion and stage designers of the early 20th century. Destined for a military career, Erté surprised a number of people by creating his first successful costume design and the age of five. In 1912, at the age of 19, his father finally allowed him to move to Paris to fullfill his dream of becoming a fashion illustrator. Erté is perhaps best remembered for the gloriously extravagant costumes and stage sets that he designed which vividly reflect his taste for the exotic and romantic.
